Lynton's Match Report
What a shocking day!! The first challenge was to cross the floodwaters outside the ground and then the challenge for the players was a heavy, wet ground with even more rain.

To use a common excuse for one local AFL side an 'undermanned" Ressies side (and a similar senior side for that matter) faced another challenge and hung in for the first half, got done in the third (0.3 to 2.1) and then fought back in the last to get 2 points up (with only 2 or so minutes to go) only only to see a late goal slide thru to lose by 4 points. Still no sign of Wade, Phillipou, Green, Harwood, McDowell etc.etc, not to mention a host of other senior players. The efforts of Locky particularly when moved to the forward line were pleasing - just maybe his injuries are starting to settle. I think they learned two tough lessons today - you can't stand off and wait for the ball; and "it ain't over until its over".

On to the seniors - this was always going to be a battle in tough conditions and in view of our form and team composition it was just that. Although we led all day the game was riddled with basic skill errors and turnovers aggravated by extremely tough conditions and it wasn't until the last (the sun actually came out after the lights were turned on at half time) that we kicked away to win by 28 points. a good result given the conditions.

The real killer for the day was the serious injury to Tony Brown, a bad break to his leg which has ended his season and added to our horrific injury list. We have often triumphed in adversity and there has been no greater challenge than right now!!!!.

Better players as I saw them were Matty Ash (didn't he love the conditions!), Meady, Ilett,"Froggy" Davey, and a special mention to Mathew Smith (Tingles listed) who was close to our best. A good lead, mark and kick but is probably in the right place to learn to, "toughen up" his approach.

Well next week - Norwood at Norwood Friday night; I think Kangas at Optus might be a better choice but I'm not sure yet....... See you later Lynton
