Lynton's
Match Report |
We must have been at a different game last night as Robertson in the paper refers to Centrals "edging out a thumping Magpies outfit". From where I and many others sat we had to withstand a head hunting thumping trio of Gowans's.
It was pretty obvious from the start that we would be at a severe
height/pace disadvantage but to the great credit of this side they took it all and persevered even in the third when they were overun and in the last when many teams
- EXCEPT The Magpies - would have folded up their tents and gone home
(including supporters). I can remember Centrals supporters streaming out of grounds before the
siren - what a change a couple of flags make.
I hate losses of any kind but felt proud of that last quarter
effort. This game highlighted the urgent need to recruit some class players
- lets keep the support rolling in.
Many players had a real go but I particularly liked the game of Rhino
(AGAIN), Nige, Carts (showed some real control under EXTREME
provocation) and Wilbur. The real bonus was Locky's game - tried at both ends of the
ground.
The Dogs supporters were expecting at least a 10 goal win so the final 37 point margin left them frustrated.
I can remember the days when nothing less than a 10 goal margin would have made me
happy - let's work to get back to that.
Shouldn't forget the Ressies - their 2nd half effort was very good and gave them the 21 point
win. Big Sam and Robbo got 4 each.
Two quick comments to finish
1. Nice to know that the Maggies and Power have appointed a coach to oversee ALL the players
etc. - SHE sat behind us in Dogs outfit and advised Locky all night (and
us)
2. Last but noway least - congrats to the Sixers - the TRUE team for ALL South Aussies.
Bye for now - Lynton |
