Lynton's Wizard Cup Grand Final Report I have yet to see a bad win or an 'insignificant' premiership and I didn't see either last night. What I did see was a level of maturity in a side that was not playing all that well but had the necessary grit to hang on and win. (perhaps Mickey had the same grit) Some undisciplined actions combined with some ultra sensitive decisions certainly didn't do Richmond any harm. It has to be easier to kick goals from 30 out dead in front than work the ball with skill from half back. We were seated in a Tiger lair with at best 10 to 20 Power supporters of which we made up 6 and we got heaps, but the last laugh is always the best even if they cant take it. You get the feeling that a couple of bad losses and their numbers will drop off - again. The after match was a blast even though it was held at Colonial and the 'compulsory' beer wasn't cheap but most notable was the on the spot enjoyment of the win followed very quickly by a feeling of 'back to business' and lets get ready for the 'Roos. Couldn't argue with the choice of Tuck medallist in Nicky Stevens but I didn't feel that we had a real standout for the whole game but a lot of good contributors in patches. (loved Wakes game though) Other better players to me included Schofield, Francou, Primus, Carr and I thought Monty carried on from the previous week. But what price Wangas when something hard and inspirational is needed - take note Peter B. if you can add a bit more of this to your game combined with the obvious skills you possess you can be a topline player. Well lets enjoy but on with the business of the season proper - believe me we can improve on what we have done in the past two weeks - and must. Regards Lynton |
